First, request from your Town or City Clerk the voter roll. It will show you all the registered Republicans in your town. Send a postcard to the registered Republicans informing them that a Republican Town or City Committee exists. Provide them with your committee website and/or Facebook Page. Provide them with an email address so that they can ask a question. Offer them an opportunity to meet the members. Organize a meet and greet, coffee hour. Make the postcard simple but to the point. Obviously this will be an expense for the committee but if you can make it happen it might be beneficial.
As you know when a candidate runs for elected office its vital that the city or town committee members get involved in the process. The candidate needs help with respect to door knocking, literature drops, phone banking and standouts. This is one reason why we need to recruit Republicans to join our city and town committees. Republican activists are an essential component for a successful campaign. I am committed to working with each city or town committee to ramp up their membership drives.
I am a big believer that if one has the desire to run for office they should first get involved with the local boards within their city or town. Examples of boards would be Board of Zoning Appeal, Affordable Housing, Arts Council Advisory Board to name a few. This will help that person develop a solid reputation, name recognition and widespread visibility within their town or city which is crucial when one runs for elected office.
